The Cooking School at Dean Clough team is led by Anita Cormac, a former food teacher and founder and Executive Director of the Focus on Food Campaign.
Anita is one of the country’s most passionate advocates for good food through quality teaching. In the past decade she has dedicated her life to teaching young people and adults how to cook. Her unique teaching methods and innovative recipe ideas, alongside her extensive knowledge of food and her passion and commitment, have earned her the respect and support of educationalists, health professions and politicians alongside prominent people in the food world. She has worked on several occasions as a consultant to food writers and publishers, who have drawn on her knowledge to help produce recipes and teaching methods for helping young people and adults to learn to cook. And in the world of education she has been asked to share her knowledge in helping formulate school food and teaching policies. Food is her passion and the combination of sound teaching methods and creative recipe ideas will be the touchstone of courses at the Cooking School.

Matthew Benson-Smith Former chef to Prime Minister John Major, Matthew Benson-Smith heads the Cooking School teaching team. He has more than 20 years cooking experience as Chef at Chequers and Head Chef in top hotels and acclaimed and award winning restaurants in London and across the UK.
Matthew’s passion for cooking fresh, high quality seasonal produce is only exceeded by his desire to help others to cook well and to achieve excellent results in a supportive environment.
