Yorkshire’s Michelin Star chefs joined Welcome to Yorkshire in their Rhubarb Crumble and Custard Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show to launch the UK’s first ever Michelin restaurant tours for culinary connoisseurs. With more Michelin Star restaurants than any other county in the UK, Yorkshire is now offering the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire Michelin Star Experience’. This year Yorkshire gained its 6th star as the Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton near Beverley joined the glittering star line up of The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill; The Burlington at The Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey; The Box Tree in Ilkley; The Star at Harome and The Old Vicarage in Sheffield. Tourism agency, Welcome to Yorkshire is offering the opportunity for people to get a taste of the top class culinary skills available in the region. Visitors can have trips tailor-made which include arrival by helicopter, chef’s tables, being a chef for the day and chauffeured services around Yorkshire. The Michelin Star Experience consists of detailed itineraries visiting two, three or all six restaurants. As well as experiencing Yorkshire’s fine dining, guests will also receive a taste of Yorkshire as the packages will incorporate visits to local producers, cheese makers, vineyards and breweries and walking in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire says: “We are incredibly proud of our Michelin collection of restaurants in Yorkshire and our talented chefs, which include two of the UK’s eleven female star holders. The Michelin Star Experience will put Yorkshire’s finest on a plate for those wanting to experience the very best in Yorkshire taste.” The prestigious Michelin Star recognises the finest cooking throughout the world, and Derek Bulmer who edits the famous Michelin Guide says: “These establishments all offer something a little different, whether that’s country house formality at the Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey to more relaxed pub dining at The Pipe and Glass Inn - one of this year's new stars and run by an acolyte of Andrew Pern at The Star Inn. But what they all have in common is a commitment to making the best of Yorkshire’s wonderful produce.” Information on the Welcome to Yorkshire Michelin Star Experience and more can be found at http://www.yorkshire.com/michelinstarexperience
